CCL SECURE SUPPLIES GUARDIAN™ SUBSTRATE FOR PHILIPPINES’ FIRST FULL FAMILY Banknotes ON POLYMER

  • The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has recently issued three new denominations on GUARDIAN™ polymer substrate by CCL SECURE to complete its first full family of polymer banknotes in a major milestone for the Philippines.

  • The PHP50, PHP100 and PHP500 banknotes entered circulation in December 2024, building on the success of the PHP1000, which was issued in April 2022 to provide proof of performance in the cash cycle.

  • This landmark full polymer series was a collaboration between Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Note Printing Australia, with GUARDIAN™ polymer substrate by CCL SECURE now being supplied for all denominations.

  • Excellency and President Sir Ferdinand R. Marcos from the Philippines outlined the independent evidence that has informed the country’s decision to transition to polymer.

  • “... Polymer banknotes can last up to seven and a half years, five times longer. That means that we no longer need to replace them as often, saving money, cutting down on waste, and making a meaningful contribution to protecting the environment.”

Features by CCL Secure integrated in the new polymer series:

  • Each of the four denominations also includes CCL Secure’s IRISWITCH™ feature, which appears transparent when viewed straight on, but reveals a pearlescent colour when the note is tilted. The ‘switch’ colour has been designed to match the primary colour of a given denomination, which is blue for the PHP1000, gold for the PHP500, lilac for the PHP100 and red for the PHP50.

  • The Central Bank of the Philippines cites public demand for more hygienic banknotes as an urgent driver of their decision to polymerise. Polymer banknotes can also be sanitised with less risk of damage, the central bank notes. This is particularly important in cash cycles characterised by heat and humidity, like the Philippines.

2. Denmark: FNMT - New supplier of Danish coins

Source: BIN

  • The Central Bank of Denmark (Danmarks Nationalbank) has signed an agreement with FNMT (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre – Real Casa de La Moneda) of Spain regarding the production of Danish coins for the next four years

  • Real Casa de La Moneda was chosen because their bid was the most favourable overall.

  • The evaluation criteria included price, quality, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

3. De La Rue: Proposal from Investing company (UK) received

Source: BIN

  • De La Rue is evaluating a new proposal from investment entities Disruptive Capital GP Limited  and Pension SuperFund Capital (PSFC Entities).

  • Previously it has been discussing a potential partial offer for 40% of its shares, now De La Rue has received a full offer over of its entire issued share capital.

  • There is no certainty that this may lead or will become a formal offer.

  • The offer has no impact on the daily operations of De La Rue.

4. ISRA VISION: Camera system manufacturer no further sales activities

Source: Isra Vision, BIN

  • One of the leading camera inspection system manufacturer (e.g. online inspection for the integration of security threads) within the high security industry - ISRA VISION - discontinueing its sales activities

  • The security business unit for the manufacturing of precise production camera systems of ISRA VISION was incorporated into the paper business unit previously,  which ultimately merged with the Metals business unit.

  • There is therefore no longer a dedicated business unit for security paper, printing and features. Of course, existing projects will continue to be supported, but active sales have been discontinued.
